Built in the first half of 19 th century the Royal Palace is currently the residence of the Norwegian Monarch and a treat to eye for every tourist. The Palace is located in central Oslo right at the end of Karl Johan’s gate.

The site was originally chosen by King Charles Johan to be the enduring Royal Palace of Christiana in 1821. This has been one of the most concrete symbol of the country’s amazing History, an addition to the amazingly built buildings and inventions of the Norwegian traditions.
The Royal Palace was built by Hans Ditlev Francisus Linstow in the reign of King Charles in 19 th century. The building has a unique upbringing, built with a facade of stuccoed bricks in a Neo-Classical style. It has three storeys and consists of two wings.
The exterior of the building isn’t the only fascinating thing in this Palace. The interior has been designed and decorated with the same enthusiasm and passion. The interior decoration first started in 1838. The Interior was designed to reflect the successive style of the Norwegian history. Every room of this palace was treated quite specially. The most famous decorative
painter of Norway was hired to give the most finesse look to the family dining and Banquet Hall.
Royal Palace is the center of every council meeting and royal event. The council chamber of the Palace is also one of its kind. It consists a long elegant conference table where king seats over the council and the prime minister sits on his right hand. The council chamber is one of the most used chambers as the whole monarchy is managed here.
The Royal Palace has been modernized several times in these 150 years. Usually the changes occur when a new king enters the palace.
