Norway’s Climate

Hello Travelers! You are currently reading NHT Blogs, an initiative for travelers around the world to grow and stay informed about the most trending Halal destinations!

Let’s get back to business with the Norway’s Climate

The English word “Norway” originated from the old English word Norþweg meaning “northern way” or “way leading to the North” which easily makes up a picture of a place with harsh and cold winters, but that’s not true. Norway is a country of contrast; therefore, Norway’s climate varies region to region. It has much milder climate than other parts of world at the same latitude such as; Alaska, Greenland, and Siberia, and it’s because of the temperature waters of the Gulfstream.

Norway’s Climate

Norway’s Climate in the East

A combination of modern architecture and serene natural sights, sounds awesome right? The Eastern Norway sheltered by the mountains, has an inland climate with warm summers, cold winters, and less than 30 inches (760 mm) of mean annual precipitation. You can enjoy Norway’s climate the most in its eastern part, you actually get the best of both worlds, the city and nature!

Norway’s Climate in the South

This part of Norway is actually famous for being a paradise in summers! The main city and port of the region is Kristiansand, one of the most popular cities in Norway in the summer. Norway’s Climate in this region is not as humid and rainy as the area of Bergen, in addition, it is a bit colder in winter, when the average temperatures are just below freezing, and warmer in summer, when highs are around 20 °C (68 °F). So, in this area, the weather in summer can be pleasant.

Norway’s Climate in the West

Norway’s climate in the west is cool and wet, and is often affected by weather fronts coming from the Atlantic Ocean, so much so that clouds, rain, and wind dominate throughout the year. Bergen and Stavanger are two major and popular cities in the west, you see fjords everywhere in this part. you can also find great cultural experiences and search for heritage and history.

Norway’s Climate in the North

The is region of Norway’s Climate is a bit colder than the western one, and has a subpolar oceanic climate, although a branch of the Gulf Stream arrives here as well. The result is that the open sea does not freeze even at these latitudes, which does not happen anywhere else in the world. While the coast enjoys a milder climate, it can get very cold in some of the inland areas during winter. I think the Northern region of Norway is the magical part of Norway, because nature’s most outstanding phenomenon can be witness here like the ethereal Northern lights and the amazing Midnight sun.

Well like I said, Norway is a country of contrast. There’s nothing that you won’t like about Norway! And that’s why we believe such a country deserves recognition by the Muslim communities, to witness Allah’s breath-taking creation.
